The Dmytro Yavornytskyi House Museum in Dnipro, which was closed for more than a year due to the war, is back in operation! All this time, the museum staff continued to take care of the museum and the garden nearby.

In February, a decision was made to reopen it because, firstly, it is a unique object worthy of being visited and studying the life and work of the famous Ukrainian historian and ethnographer. Secondly, it has an important educational and patriotic function – Yavornytsky himself called this house an “oasis of the Ukrainian spirit.”

Due to the fighting, the museum has undergone some changes. For example, the main entrance is still closed. According to a decree of the Ministry of Culture, all exhibits from the main museum collections must be put into storage and not on public display. Therefore, all of Yavornytsky’s personal belongings are not yet available to visitors, nor his office. As it is explained in the museum, all the exhibits will be reopened after the victory – it is too dangerous now.

However, the museum is already planning to organize regular series of monthly excursions called “Dmytro Yavornytsky’s Roads.” They will go through the streets of the city linked to the life and work of the famous historian. In addition, the House Museum plans to work in an online format, offering lectures, stories, and films about the museum and Dmytro Yavornytskyi for free.
